Our History

“We set out to redefine philanthropy and expand whom it supports. While large foundation investments in solutions like vaccines are important, mainstream philanthropy often overlooks those most in need. That’s why we support small, local, community-led organizations driving transformational change.”

—Anna Graves

“I wanted to connect with other women and learn more about local nonprofits. Starting this organization has given me both—and so much more!”

—Anne Janda

Founded in November 2019, Impact 100 Seattle is a collective giving group dedicated to supporting small, local, community-run organizations.  Co-founders, Anna Graves and Anne Janda were seeking a way to become more involved in their local community and, as transplants to Seattle, they wanted to meet like minded women.  After learning about the concept of Impact 100 collective giving circles, they sought to tailor the model to Seattle’s unique needs. Through in-depth research and conversations with local nonprofit leaders, they saw an opportunity to create a first-of-its-kind organization rooted in trust-based philanthropy.

At its core, Impact 100 Seattle embraces trust-based philanthropy, ensuring that nonprofit partners receive unrestricted funds, streamlined grant applications, and long-term support beyond financial contributions. The organization’s vision is simple: a world where nonprofits spend time transforming communities, not fundraising supports.

When the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted their inaugural grant cycle, the organization swiftly adapted. Instead of awarding a single large grant in November, members voted to accelerate the process, distributing multiple smaller grants by June 2020—demonstrating both flexibility and commitment to urgent community needs.

The accelerated grant process has remained a part of Impact 100 Seattle after proving that it is preferred by nonprofits. Since 2020, the organization has continued to evolve and as of June 2024, it has granted over $700,000 to 13 community-run organizations.

The Impact 100 model democratizes philanthropy, bringing together women who each contribute $1,000, pooling their resources to drive high-impact giving. Seattle’s chapter is fully volunteer-run, and ensures that 100% of the $1,000 membership fee goes directly to local nonprofits, while pro bono services, sponsorships, and supplemental contributions cover operational costs like website maintenance, government filings, insurance, CRM management, and event expenses.

By fostering deep connections and reimagining philanthropy, Impact 100 Seattle is redefining what it means to give—together, with trust, and for lasting change.

  Our Vision

We envision a world where nonprofits spend time transforming communities, not fundraising.

  Our Mission

Impact 100 Seattle harnesses the collective power of diverse women to support and amplify the work of local community-based organizations, through high impact grantmaking and relationship building.

  We Believe In:

Trust-Based Grantmaking - The organizations we partner with know best how to use our funds; we support their efforts.

Supporting Transformative Change - Lasting change requires communities to address the root causes of systemic inequities.

Amplifying Voices - We spotlight achievements of small, community-based organizations through grants and long term relationships.

Long-Term Relationships - It takes time to make an impact, and we’re in it for the long haul.

Diversity - We actively engage the perspective of a wide variety of lived experiences, so we all learn and evolve.

Equity - Each member has a single vote, regardless of her level of contribution.

And that when joined together, women can move mountains - We are more than the dollars we give.
